About the Piece

Last Bloom was a little different from what I normally find myself painting. I was drawn to the contrast of the black rose against the flames and loved how much color and energy the piece had.

Sometimes I like stepping outside of what feels familiar and painting something simply because it catches my attention. I loved the idea of something as delicate and beautiful as a flower surrounded by fire. It gave me a chance to play with bold color, light, and contrast in a way I don't usually get to, and I really enjoyed watching this one come together.
